System Electrical Superintendent

Job Description:

The System Electrical Superintendent’s primary responsibility is to supervise, direct, and coordinate day-to-day operations, maintenance and work order construction of distribution and transmission facilities and components. 

The position reports directly to the Vice President, Engineering & System Operations. 

This position will:

Formulate substation maintenance plans and schedules, both short and long range.

Prepare, review, and submit recommendations concerning changes in existing facilities or addition of new equipment, plans and specifications, contract work orders, final documents, etc. relating to the distribution and transmission system.

Prepare and direct work plans requiring coordination with member cooperatives, local power systems or other departments within the Cooperative.

Requisition and receive material and supplies required for the department to maintain an adequate and controlled inventory of supplies.

Prepare operating and capital budgets for the electrical maintenance department with supporting data and establish and maintain other reports and records as required or requested.

Develop and maintain good relationships with property owners, tenants, member cooperatives' personnel and the public by handling complaints and requests.       

Evaluate the performance of employees in the department, and recommend selection, advancements, discharge, and changes in compensation for those employees.

A high school diploma plus ten years of relevant experience or an associate degree plus five years relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education/experience is required. Must have successfully completed a journeyman electrician program or equivalent.  Three years of leadership or supervisory experience is preferred.
